Homing in on Your Goals

Mind Power June 29th, 2011

Have you ever heard a tune, which stuck in your head even though you disliked it?

Even though you hated it, it still stuck in your head.

Why do we allow a piece of music to keep playing, over and over again in our minds?

You wouldn’t socialize with  someone you disliked, would you?

So why allow a pesky tune you dislike to invade the sanctity of your peaceful mind?

The reason is because you hate it.

Why goals elude us

When you focus on something whether positively or negatively, you give that thing power.    That`s interesting.

And that thing could be a tune, but it could also be a thought, an idea, even a habit.

Your mind has a built-in homing device. Whatever you focus on, your homing device will tend to head toward it.

Your homing device doesn’t care whether you focus on something positive or negative – whatever it is it’ll advance you toward it.

Every time you focus on something you don’t like, you re-set your homing device to hold onto that thought and head toward it. And the more often you think about it, the quicker you’ll get there.

If you’re poor,  and always moan and groan about having no money, what are you focusing on…having no money of course which ensures that you’ll get exactly that – no money!

Did you ever buy a new car and were surprised to see so many identical cars on the road – the exact same model and color!

They were always there, of course, but you didn’t see them because your mind wasn’t focused on them. But once your focus changes you see them “everywhere”.

Goals lead to Opportunities

Opportunities are also “everywhere” but if your mind is focused on what you don’t want and what you don’t have you’ll never see them.

You need to change your focus so that you can see the positive and not be affected by the negative.

Now I’m talking about a much deeper change in your thinking.

This change is possible by making a commitment to yourself to only be influenced by positive thoughts.

You’ll be able to focus on where you want to go and where you want to be, and those negative thoughts won’t affect you.
